Meet Latifa
Latifa is a lovely girl born in 2011. She lives with her mother, 2 sisters and 1 brother in an area called Nyamirambo, Kigali in a small three bedroom house without no electricity. This area is also where the learning center is located for Hope Shines.
Latifa’s family foundation is unstable in many ways. Latifa’s mother did not get a formal education beyond early primary school. This fact has created a constant challenge for her to find consistent work for income. Currently though, she is doing part-time work that is contributing very little to the improvement of the family’s financial security. As a memeber of the Hope Shines Parents Committee, she is learning to become a self-motivated contributor to society. Her lack of confidence and self-esteem prevents her from being able to communicate with others but we hope that this will improve and she will become a more confident woman with better opportunities.
Latifa herself is a quiet, joyful kid that always smiles, and she is now in the first grade of primary school, where she is excited about learning and bonding with her friends. When Latifa is not at school, she enjoys playing with her friends while jumping rope and playing a good fun of football. Her favorite food is rice, chips, and beef and when she grows up she wants to become a nurse.
